Mutei Grannies FC: Kenya’s Football Grandmas To Play in South Africa Grannies Tournament.
Mutei FC, a vibrant football club made up of grandmothers aged between 52 and 75 from the North Rift region, is set to travel to South Africa to participate in the Mama Beka GIFT Tournament. The team recently received support from the Ministry of Sports, giving their journey a significant boost. The GIFT Tournament, an initiative launched two years ago by Beka Ntsanwisi, a former South African media personality, aims to promote active aging and empower elderly women through sports.
The spirited group of football-playing grandmothers, has been invited to participate in the Beka Tournament in South Africa, scheduled to take place from April 2 to April 5. Since their formation last year, the team has captured national attention for their remarkable energy and passion for the game. Comprising players aged between 52 and 75, the squad is redefining perceptions of aging in sports and inspiring older women in their communities to embrace active, healthy lifestyles.
